Hills is strengthening its focus on the digital health sector with its recent acquisition of connected care software company Extensia.

The acquisition is part of Hills’ strategy to leverage its reach into the healthcare and aged care sectors and share in the accelerated acceptance of digital health technologies due to the COVID19 pandemic.

“This acquisition is an exciting opportunity for Hills and a step towards the company’s expansion in the digital health sector. Hills has a new board, new management and a new focus,” Hills CEO David Clarke said.

“The injection of considerable digital health expertise, together with Hills existing foothold in technology and reach into hospitals and aged care facilities nationally, will fuel the company’s expansion efforts.”

Hills currently has a footprint in hospitals and aged care facilities with its nurse call, GetWell, Hospital TV and patient engagement solutions, and Guest Wi-Fi services.

Hills and Extensia are committed to driving the nation’s healthcare forward with technology by helping to solve some of Australia’s enduring health challenges: interoperability between health systems, visibility of information across disparate systems and care providers, and curation of data into meaningful information.

Extensia solves these challenges by connecting healthcare and other care providers with the patient or client information they need to see, easily and securely throughout the care journey.
Working with governments, health services, aged care providers, indigenous health organisations, disabilities care providers and research institutions, the company improves healthcare outcomes, costs and efficiencies by securely sharing health information.

With Extensia’s RecordPoint platform, authorised practitioners have real-time access to patient records and test results from anywhere in the health ecosystem – hospitals, GPs, specialists, allied health, radiology, pathology and health apps. It also provides rigorous data security, user authentication, access control and audit trail views for healthcare providers and patients.
