Hills Health Solutions, a division of Hills Ltd, and Olinqua Pty Ltd announced today that they have entered into a strategic partnership to deliver a converged IP based platform that will enable hospitals and aged care facilities to deliver end-to-end bi-directional workflows to improve critical alarm management and support better patient outcomes.

Hills Health Solutions is Australia’s largest supplier of nurse call and patient engagement solutions, with product design, research and development, and manufacturing conducted at their facility in Port Melbourne, Victoria.  Olinqua is an Australian based technology provider, specialising in the healthcare sector and focusing on bringing together collaboration, location and mobility solutions together to help hospitals optimise their workforce, healthcare, staff and patient outcomes, by enabling information flow from disparate systems through their platform.

Healthcare facilities frequently employ a mix of technologies to manage clinical workflows, and this leads to challenges in the transfer and access of reliable data in real time. The Hills Health Solutions and Olinqua partnership will focus on the design and development of technology to consolidate user interaction, reassurance notifications and escalation management into a contained solution utilising Hills’ nurse call and Olinqua’s critical messaging technology. The solution has already been deployed at Melbourne’s Austin Hospital and Canberra Hospital.

Hills CEO, David Clarke, said that digital health offered significant benefits to hospitals and patients alike but that the practical implementation, into a complex and dynamic healthcare environment, could be challenging for providers, especially when it came to integrating technologies.

“As leaders in connected digital health, Hills and Olinqua recognise that healthcare providers are often challenged by the interoperability of health information and communication technology (ICT). Our partnership with Olinqua goes some way to resolve this by consolidating critical messaging into a contained solution.”

General Manager of Sales and Operations at Hills Health Solutions, Feargal O’Farrell, said that the collaboration with Olinqua would provide a complete end-to end workflow solution between Hills’ nurse call system and the facilities messaging system, giving clinical staff confirmation that an alert had been successfully transmitted, received, and acknowledged by the response team.

“We believe it will improve the safety and efficiency of clinical workflow, especially in Code Blue medical emergency situations,” he said.

Olinqua’s Chief Executive Officer, Arthur Ong, said that “Olinqua’s success has been built on strong relationships with our key industry partners, and the capabilities of our ecosystem vendors such as RTLS technology vendors, collaboration and mobility providers. Together, we deliver solutions that can enhance healthcare workforce safety and productivity, ultimately leading to better staff and patient outcomes. We are very excited to welcome Hills Health into our partner ecosystem and look forward to working closely together.”
